Abstract

This research aim to; study the community context, and the relationship of the physical, economic and
social of the community, and guidelines to development community product at Nong Kong, Ban Phue District,
UdonThani Province. Use the mix method, both quantitative and qualitative method research. And populations
in the research were villagers, members of Nageled production group, and community leaders.According
to our studies, local Community Products are struggling for growth in demand; for example Nagled Candy a
traditional Thai Candy made from rice and sugar, originated in the community of Nong Kong, Ban Phue District,
UdonThani Province, since 2004, are currently encountering hardship on the distribution of Community
Products due to the lack of growth on product demand. The farmers negotiation powers with the middle man
has weakens where we find that only a combined average income of 147,000 bah per year or the average
income of 2,685 bahtper household per month. The process of production and marketing was found that,
three problem are 1) Members have less bargaining power over raw material prices and selling prices. 2)
Uncertainty in production location. Therefore, the processing standards could not be controlled resulting to
poor quality. And 3) Cost of raw goods has increase while demand decrease. This indicates that this is a
major obstacle to the development of community products under the philosophy of Sufficient Economy. The
results of this research are used as a guideline for solving future problems such as, grouping of suppliers to
purchase raw materials, product sales and control production.
