Abstract

The research aimed to: (1) study problems of learning organization and learning needs of issue-based leaners, according to the guidelines of the well-being schools in teaching profession joint-development schools; (2) support and promote practicum students to organize issue-based learning according to the guidelines of the well-being schools in teaching profession joint-development schools; (3) evaluate the issue-based learning organization according to the guidelines of the well-being schools in teaching profession joint-development schools; and (4) study the learners’ satisfaction with the issue-based learning according to the guidelines of the well-being schools in teaching profession joint-development schools. The research employed the mixed research method. The target group comprised 25 school administrators, 25 teachers who were in charge of the project, 25 practicum students, 25 supervisors, and 250 student core leaders. The target group participated in the project voluntarily. The research setting was at 25 teaching profession joint-development schools in Mahasarakham Province. The instruments consisted of: (1) a survey form for learning problems and issue-based learning needs; (2) an assessment form for the well-being schools; (3) an interview form for focus group discussion and a record of focus group discussion; (4) a satisfaction questionnaire. The results of the study were presented in tables and descriptive analysis as follows:


The Results


1.The study on problems of learning organization and learning needs of issue-based learners


revealed the following: 1) the aspect of  increasing consumption of vegetables, fruits and safe food accounted for 95.00 percent; 2) the aspect of environment, virtues and ethics accounted for 60 percent. Regarding the needs of issue-based learning according to the guidelines of the well-being schools, the need of the schools to learn about the aspect of increasing consumption of vegetables, fruits and safe food accounted for 56 percent, and the need to learn about the environment and health accounted for 20 percent.

The study on support and promotion for practicum students to organize issue-based learning according to the guidelines of the well-being schools in teaching profession joint-development schools revealed the following guidelines on giving support and promotion: 1) carrying out the issue-based learning project, 2) local curriculum promotion and development, 3) learning organization, 4) learning and teaching media production, 5) measurement and evaluation, 6) participatory work.

The evaluation on the issue-based learning organization according to the guidelines of the well-being schools in teaching profession joint-development schools indicated that the learners were developed on 4 aspects as follows: (1) on the aspect of health, before learning, the learners’ health was at a moderate level, and it was at a high level when the project terminated; (2) on the aspect of the environment, before and after taking part in the project, the learners learned about the environment at a high level; (3) on the aspect of increasing consumption of vegetables, fruits and safe food, the learners learned about the consumption at a high level before and after learning; (4) on the aspect of virtues and ethics, the learners learned about the virtues and ethics at a high level before and after learning.

The study of the learners’ satisfaction with the issue-based learning according to the guidelines of the well-being schools in teaching profession joint-development schools revealed that the learners’ satisfaction, on the whole, was at a high level. They had learned all of the 4 issues: health; the environment; increasing consumption of vegetables, fruits and safe food; and virtues and ethics.
