Abstract

The objectives of the research were: (1) to develop lesson plans for problem -solving skill development on
the topic of “Possibility” of mathematic department of grade 11 by using TAI cooperative learning model and
learning packages based on the 75/75 standardized criteria efficiency; (2) to assess learning effectiveness
of the 11th grade students for problem -solving skill development by an achievement test; (3) to compare the
abilities of the students in problem-solving skills before and after using the TAI cooperative learning model and
learning packages; and (4) to study learning behaviors of the students toward the TAI cooperative learning
model and learning packages. The samples were twenty eight 11th grade students at Wangluangpitayakhom
secondary school under Secondary Educational Service Area Office 27 in the secondary semester of 2014.
The instrument was eight lesson plans, learning packages, 30 items of problem-solving sill test and an 5-point
rating scale questionnaire on learning behavior. The statistics used were the percentage, mean and standard
deviation, and t-test (Dependent Sample) was used for hypothesis testing.
Results of the research were as follows: (1) the results showed that the efficiency of lesson plans for
problem -solving skill development of the 11th grade students on the topic of “Possibility” of mathematic
department by using TAI cooperative learning model and learning packages was 88.44/89.52 which higher
that the established standardized criteria; (2) the results indicated that the learning effectiveness of the lesson
plans by using TAI cooperative learning model and learning packages for grade 11 was .7348. In the other
word, the knowledge improvement of the students after using the lesson plans by using TAI cooperative learning
model and learning packages was 73.48%; (3) the average problem-solving skill of the students after using
the lesson plans by using TAI cooperative learning model and learning packages was significantly higher
than that before using the lesson plans and learning packages at the .05 level; and (4) Regarding learning
behaviors of the students, the findings showed that the students always studied further and concentrated on
the subject in classroom and out of classroom. They usually reviewed the previous lessons and studied the
next lesson in advance. Lastly, they always prepared themselves for the tests. They usually improved their
learning strategies for the better learning outcomes.
