The Developing Model of the Executive’s Managerial Competency,Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University

Abstract
The purposes of this research were 1) to study levels of the managerial competency of the executives
of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University 2) to study attitudes toward the influencing factors which
affected the managerial competency of the executives of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University,
3) to analyze the causal factors affecting managerial competency of the executives of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya
University and 4) to create and verify the developing model of the managerial competency of
the executives of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University. This research was conducted in two phases.
The first phase was a study of the causal factors affecting the managerial competency of the executives
of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University. The sample of the research consisted of 300 subjects of
Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University; those were selected by 20 units per 1 variable criteria and
using the stratified random sampling. The instruments were the rating scale questionnaire, analyzed by the
descriptive statistics, Pearson Product Moment Correlation, and Structural Equation Modeling: SEM of the
LISREL software program. Phase II was constructing and confirm a development model of the managerial
competency of the executives of Mahachulalongkornrajavidaylaya, using the Critical Incident Technique.
The research result was found as follows; 1) The managerial competency of the executives of
Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya university as overall and all aspect was at high level, sorting mean
from highest to lowest; the strategic thinking competency, the change management competency, the
collaborative competency, the communication competency and the human resource management competency
respectively. 2) The level of attitudes toward the influencing factors which affected the managerial
competency of the executives of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya university was found that there was at
high level for 7 issues, sorting mean from highest to lowest; knowledge management, traits, transformational
leadership, the human resource management skill, the emotional intelligence, the professional administration, the
communication efficiency.Two factors; the achievement motivation and the charismatic leadership was
found at the moderate level. 3) For the factors affecting a development of the managerial competency of the
executives of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, cluster are shown in a descending order of
coefficient values as follows: the transformational leadership (0.37), the professional administration (0.34),
the knowledge management (0.24), the charismatic leadership (0.17), and the emotional intelligence (0.17).
The variables could explain the development model of the managerial competency of the executives
of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya university for 31.10 (R2= 0.311, p-value .05) by statistical significant at
the .05 level.4) The model of the managerial competency development of the executives of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya
university was comprised of development of professional administration, and charismatic
leadership, both of which led to upholding and pushing forward the managerial competency of the executives
of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya university through the development of emotional intelligence, knowledge
management and transformational leadership.
