The Development of Training Course on Modern Automotive Technology for Teachers of Auto Mechanics Department under Vocational Education Commission Office in Northeast of Thailand

Abstract
The research was purposed to develop a training course on modern automotive technology for teachers of the auto mechanics department, under Vocational Education Commission Office in Northeast of Thailand, divided into 4 stages as following: Stage 1-the study of problems, needs and training guidelines were conducted by interviewing 20 experts. The training needs were investigated from a sample group of 110 teachers by purposive sampling. Research instrument consisted of questionnaires. Stage 2-the development of training course, including the assessment of outline quality was examined by 5 experts, with the training course outline assessment form as the research instrument. Stage 3-the implementation of the training course was conducted with the sample group of 15 participants by purposive sampling. The research instrument included satisfaction assessment form. Stage 4 - the evaluation of the use of training course was examined with 215 participants as a sample group by purposive sampling, with questionnaires as the research instrument.
The findings revealed that 1) the assessment of the teachers' opinions on training needs in modern automotive technology concerning training topics was at a high level, in total 8 units. 2) The assessment of training course quality by the experts gained the appropriateness at the highest level, with the difficulty (p) was between 0.30-0.425,the discrimination (r) was between 0.20-0.50, and the reliability of KR 20 test was at 0.88. 3) The curriculum efficiency E1/E2 was as 80.16/81.20, with the performance evaluation of 89.33%. The achievement of the participants after the training was higher with statistical significance at the level of .05. In addition, the participants gained the satisfaction towards the training course at the highest level. 4) The assessment of the course after the training was at the highest level as well.
