Abstract

The current study aimed to develop an evaluation model for life skill learning management in 21st century for basic education schools. The study was conducted with the principle of research and development approach. There were four phases of the study which could be discussed in detail as follow.1)The first phase included investigating, analyzing, and synthesizing of indicators to develop the model and interviewing of 15 experts in the area. 2) In the second phase, the data gained in the first phase were applied to develop the evaluation model. The created evaluation model was then evaluated by 12 experts in the area using multi attribute consensus reaching (MACR) method. In the next step, the model was created as a manual which was once evaluated by 5 experts in terms of appropriateness, coverage, and clearness of the content before being applied in real evaluation. 3) In the third phase of the study, the evaluation model was applied in the classroom as a pilot study. The participants, selected by purposive sampling method, were 21 teachers teaching in basic education level from 7 schools in Maha Sarakham province. In the last phase of the study, the model was evaluated using an evaluating form designed by applying criteria from Educational Evaluation Development Committees. The evaluators were committees of 35 educators related to the evaluation model. The research instruments were interview from and rubric scoring of 5 Likert scale. The data were analyzed by both qualitative and quantitative methods. Statistics used in data analysis were mean score and standard deviation.
The results of the study could be seen as follow.
1. The evaluation model for life skill learning management in 21st century for basic education schools was designed as the tree structure that ties 6 components together including topic of evaluation, purposes of evaluation, focuses of evaluation, evaluation methods, evaluators, and criteria for evaluation. The purposes of this model was to improve life skill learning management in 21st century for basic education schools. Moreover, school management and related organizations could apply the model in the process of administration, planning, and teacher development since the evaluation model focused on learning management, factors contributing to learning, characteristics of teachers, learning management and outcomes. The evaluation methods included steps in evaluation, tools used in evaluation, and evaluation time. The criteria were developed and proved by experts in the area.
2. The result of the model evaluation showed that the appropriateness, correctness, and possibility of application were found in the high level. Considering each aspect of evaluation found that one aspect was found in the very high level, and the rest were found in the high level.
