The Development of Analytical English Reading Ability Using the SQ4R technique learning activity

Abstract
This research aimed to 1) develop an efficient analytical English reading activity for 10th grade students using the SQ4R technique, with an efficiency criterion of 75/75. 2) compare the analytical English reading ability between pre-test and post-test using the SQ4R technique. 3)investigate students' satisfaction with the learning activity using the SQ4R technique. The sample group consisted of 40 students from Mathayom Suksa 4/6 at Phadungnaree School in the second semester of the 2024 academic year. They were selected using cluster random sampling. The research instruments included eight lesson plans, 30-item analytical English reading ability test and 14-item satisfaction questionnaire. The statistics used to analyze the data were percentage, mean, standard deviation, and t-test (Dependent Sample) for hypothesis testing.
The results of the findings revealed that 1) the analytical English reading activity using the SQ4R technique for 10th grade students had an efficiency of 78.62/86.67. 2) students who learned using the SQ4R technique had significantly higher analytical English reading ability post-test than pre-test at the .05 level. 3) students were highly satisfied with the analytical English reading activity using the SQ4R technique (= 4.54, S.D.= 0.36).
