From Kaew Na Ma playscript to novel named Pak A-Soon: The New Meaning Creation in the Context of Thai Contemporary Society

Abstract

This research article studies the analysis of meaning creation in the context of Thai contemporary society in  Pak A-Soon. The framework for analyzing meaning creation is derived from Suksamai’s study entitled Reframing the "hero and superhero" in Thai films (2008) and in Kumpiree’s study entitled The Inheritance of Thai Traditional Literatures and Tales in Thai Young's Literatures That Were Published in Year 2002 to 2011. The findings are presented in the form of descriptive analysis. The analysis of meaning creation, causing the change of meaning, reveals four causes of meaning change: the writer, the narration style, the social context, and the duplication. The findings of the new meaning creation in the context of Thai contemporary society in the novel named Pak A-Soon show the adjustment, which is in agreement with the changed social values, perspective, and factors having influences on the creation of literature, which is a proper tool to entertain the readers. The perpetuation also highlights the power of original literature in reproducing modern literary works.
