Factors associated with the Efficiency of Public Health Service of Village Health Volunteers in Khon Kaen Municipality, Khon Kaen Province

Abstract
This study aimed to: 1) examine the level of factors associated with service delivery of Village Health Volunteers (VHVs); 2) assess the level of VHV service efficiency in Khon Kaen Municipality across four dimensions—service accessibility, service quality, community satisfaction, and service continuity; and 3) analyze the relationships between the factors associated with VHV service efficiency. A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted among 399 residents in Khon Kaen Municipality. The sample size was calculated using Yamane’s formula (95% confidence level). Data were collected using a structured questionnaire during September–October 2025, with convenience sampling. The research instrument was reviewed for content validity by three experts, with IOC values ranging from 0.67 to 1.00, an overall mean IOC of 0.80, and an overall reliability coefficient of 0.91. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, and inferential statistics using Pearson’s correlation coefficient.
The results showed that: 1) the overall level of factors associated with VHV service delivery was high (= 4.48,
= 0.63), with policy and structural factors demonstrating the highest mean; 2) the overall level of VHV service efficiency was high (
= 4.51,
= 0.58), and all four dimensions were rated high; and 3) all six factors were positively correlated with service efficiency across all dimensions (r = 0.443–0.624, p < .01). These findings suggest that competency and motivation, resources and support, as well as policy and structural factors, were associated with VHV service efficiency in an urban context.
