Abstract
Inventory Management by Enhancing Personal Competencies
Inventory management is important to an organization in which employees are key drivers in leading an organization to achieve its goals. Employees are thus a valuable resource such that executives should give first priority in developing them to have the required knowledge and skills for their job functions. An approach for development of inventory management employees should not focus on each particular skill separately; but it should provide them integrated skills including inventory management planning, supervision, management and analysis in order to set an inventory operation that is in line with organization policies. This integrated employee development will promote collaborations in working efficiently and continuously complying with the industrial standards, laws, and regulations which can reduce risks and errors in the operation. Moreover, an organization should create proper motivation to each employee and let them perceive the importance of inventory management which directly affects the organization’s growth and viability. Specifically, an organization should try its best to retain those talented employees because they can greatly help the organization adapt to the continuous changes of environments both inside and outside. However, a success in inventory management relies on both executives/leaders and the employees who realize the significance of more efficient inventory management.
