Publication Ethics
Ethical guidelines for publishing articles in Sikkha Journal of Education (Publication Ethics)
Sikkha Journal of Education has established ethical guidelines for those involved in publishing articles as follows:
Duties of Editors
1) Supervise the journal's operations in alignment with its goals and scope, adhering to academic principles, ethics, and the code of conduct outlined in journal management standards. Ensure the maintenance of quality and continuous advancement in the development of the journal management system.
2) Evaluate articles submitted for publication to ensure they align with the goals and scope of the journal. This includes assessing article quality through the screening and quality assessment processes before publication.
3) Maintain confidentiality concerning the authors and evaluators of the articles. Control the evaluation process without disclosing the identities of authors to evaluators and vice versa, implementing a double-blinded approach.
4) Utilize the Akkharawisut program and the "Copy Catch" verification system in the Thai Jo journal management system for Thai articles to check for duplication. For English articles, use standard and reliable programs such as Dupli Checker or Turnitin, ensuring redundancy does not exceed 35 percent. If redundancy exceeds the limit, notify the author of any required corrections before publication.
5) Scrutinize submitted articles to verify if they have been previously published in any other journal. Articles found to have been previously published elsewhere should not be considered for republication.
6) Conduct transparent and verifiable article reviews for publication. Ensure that there is no conflict of interest in the consideration and dissemination of articles by the Division, editors, and related staff.
7) Strictly adhere to the above steps and maintain the standards of the journal. Editorial actions should be based on academic reasons to promote and advance research and academic work, fostering quality and standards.
Duties of Authors:
1) Authors must uphold honesty, avoiding plagiarism by correctly citing others' work in accordance with academic principles. The use of others' work should not exceed 35 percent, and revisions must be made as advised by the editor.
2) The authors must confirm that the article submitted to the Sikkha Journal of Education has not been previously published in any journal or media.
3) Authors should present complete and accurate research results or academic information in alignment with academic principles. Knowledge or findings should be straightforwardly communicated.
4) Authors must adhere to the specified formats and methods for research and academic work outlined by the Sikkha Journal of Education. They should be open to improvement and revision based on recommendations from experts during the article screening process and recommendations from editors.
5) Except when using personal funds, the author must identify the source of funding for the research or study. This is to demonstrate transparency and avoid conflicts of interest in presenting work for publication.
6) Authors should not have personal relationships or acquaintanceships with the administrators or evaluators of articles appearing on the journal's website to prevent potential conflicts of interest.
7) Authors proposing to publish an article must certify that they are the author or participant in the research or academic article.
Duties of Article Reviewers:
1) Article evaluators must assess articles precisely and provide valuable suggestions based on academic principles and reasons. They should consider the importance of the content in contributing to the further development of new knowledge.
2) Evaluators must consider their field of expertise, focusing on evaluating articles that align with their knowledge and expertise. They should avoid evaluating content or fields in which they lack proficiency.
3) Evaluators must conduct their assessments with honesty and morality and maintain confidentiality by not disclosing information about the evaluated article to anyone not involved in the consideration.
4) If evaluators find articles that are not useful or lack positive effects on academic circles, or if they identify instances of plagiarism or duplication similar to the work of others, they should promptly notify the editor.
5) Evaluators must decline to evaluate articles with authors they may have a relationship with or know, ensuring academic independence in the article evaluation process.
Human Research Ethics:
Research articles to be published must be expressed as follows:
1. Respect the rights and dignity of human subjects or research volunteers. They must be adequately informed, have a say, and be free to decide whether to participate in the research project.
2. Respect the privacy and maintain the confidentiality of samples or research volunteers. Do not seek benefits from research on vulnerable people who are unable to protect themselves.
3. Ensure that samples or research volunteers benefit from the research and are not at risk of participating in the research project.
4. Adhere to the principles of justice and equality when involving sample groups or research volunteers, ensuring fair and unbiased treatment without discrimination.
5. When conducting research involving humans, obtain a human research ethics certificate from the review board of that institution or agency.
