The Development of Writing and Reading Ability of Prathomsuksa 1 Students Using CIRC Activities

Abstract

The purposes of this classroom action research are; 1) to develop word reading ability of Prathomsuksa 1 students using CIRC activities, and 2) to develop word writing ability of Prathomsuksa 1 students using CIRC activities. The focus group is a Prathomsuksa 1 classroom with 11 students of Banwanglaokaonoi School, Tambol Kaen, Wapi Prathum Distric, Maha Sarakham Primary Educational Service Area Office 2. The study was conducted with the action research with 3 circles as a research method. 14-hour circle lesson plans using CIRC activities, spiral quizzes, a test of word reading ability, and a test of word writing ability were conducted as research instruments. The statistics used for analyzing the collected data were mean, standard deviation, and percentage.


The results of the study indicated that: 1) the average score on the test of word reading ability for the focus group obtaining CIRC activities was 76.06 percent, which was higher than the criterion, and also 2) the average score on the test of word writing ability for the focus group obtaining CIRC activities was 74.85 percent, which was higher than the criterion.
