Study of Problems and Needs for Development of Instructional Model to Promote Teenage Pregnancy Prevention Literacy of Junior High School Students

Abstract
This research is qualitative research. The objectives were to 1) Study the problematic state of sex education instruction and teenage pregnancy prevention; 2) Study needs for the development of the instructional model to enhance teenage pregnancy prevention literacy. The sample includes specialist in health literacy and transformative learning, school administrator, health education teacher, homeroom teacher, guidance teacher, a specialist nurse who has experience in health’s adolescent, teenager’s parents, male and female students in grade 10, a total sample are 55 people. Collect data through in-depth interviews and group discussions. Data were analyzed using content analysis methods.
The results showed that 1) The problematic state of sex education instruction and teenage pregnancy prevention found that most teachers and parent’s attitudes towards sex and teenage pregnancy are inappropriate, while some adolescents consider it normal to have sex in adolescence. The causes and risk factors that cause premature pregnancy include the developmental factors of adolescents, values and attitudes, family’s caring, social and environmental conditions, and social media. The present state of sex education and premature pregnancy prevention instruction found that there were still problems in the curriculum, teachers, instructional media, and measurement and evaluation. 2) Needs for the development of the instructional model to enhance teenage pregnancy prevention literacy found that the recommendations for the development of an instructional model to enhance teenage pregnancy prevention literacy were suggestions in all 6 areas: curriculum, content, teachers, instructional activities, instructional materials and measurement and evaluation.
