Abstract

The purpose of this research was to 1) design and develop a 3D book: wrapping cloth method of Isan region using augmented reality technology and 2) study the satisfaction of the 3D book: wrapping cloth method of Isan region. Wrapping cloth method was simulated in animation which was able to run on the Android operating system. We demonstrate the wrapping cloth method by presenting an augmented reality that is a user-friendly technology as users feel like they are working with real objects. Implanting virtual objects into the reality world provides users with meaningful and memorable experiences. The results showed that 1) there are 6 steps in design and development process and 5 models in 3D, including loincloths, sarongs, Pha Sin, shawls of Thai-Laos Putai and shawls of Kui Khmer. 2) Based on 40 users, users’ satisfaction was in strongly agree level (X̅ = 4.53) with standard deviations (S.D.) at 0.04. It was found that the 3D book could help users to know the correct method of wrapping cloth in Isan region, as well as promote the art of cloth wrapping method preservation of Isan region for the next generations.
