Abstract
บทความวิจัยเรื่องนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาเงื่อนไขเชิงโครงสร้างที่มีผลต่อการเล่นพนันของผู้คนในพื้นที่ภาคกลาง มีวิธีการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพโดยเก็บข้อมูลจากการสัมภาษณ์ร่วมกับการใช้ข้อมูลจากเอกสาร ผลการศึกษาพบว่า บริบทพื้นที่มีลักษณะของความเป็นเมือง มีการเคลื่อนย้ายของผู้คนเพื่อเข้ามาอยู่ในเมืองมีอัตราสูงและมีความหลากหลายทางด้านการประกอบอาชีพ การพนันได้เข้ามามีบทบาททางสังคม ในการเป็นกลไกการแสวงหารายได้ของรัฐ การพนันเป็นช่องทางแสวงหารายได้เพื่อการขยับหรือเลื่อนสถานะทางสังคมใหม่ การพนัน คือ สนามของการต่อสู้ ต่อรอง ของผู้คนที่ถูกตกอยู่ในสถานะรอง การพนันเป็นกิจกรรมสันทนาการเพื่อปลดปล่อยอารมณ์ และการพนันเป็นพื้นที่ของการประกอบสร้างเครือข่ายทางสังคมใหม่ในเมือง แนวทางการจัดการการพนันในสังคมไทย คือ การปรับปรุงข้อกำหนด กฎระเบียบ มาตรการต่าง ๆ ที่สามารถนำไปใช้ได้จริง และการสร้างความชัดเจนเพื่อจำแนกระหว่างนักพนัน ผู้เล่นการพนัน และสร้างการนิยามการพนันใหม่
This research article aimed to study the structural conditions affecting people’s gambling in the central region through a qualitative research method that collected data from interviews and documentary. The result revealed that the area context was urban. There was a high rate of urban migration and a wide variety of occupations. Gambling played a role as a social mechanism that generate the state’s income. Gambling is another means of money gaining to shift to a new social status. Gambling is a battlefield for struggling and bargaining among those who are in a subordinate position. In addition, gambling is a recreational activity for emotional release and it offers a space for building new social networks in the city. Guidelines for gambling management in Thai society are improving rules, regulations, and measures that can be truly implemented, creating clarity to distinguish between gambling addicts and gamblers, as well as creating a new definition of gambling.
