ไซอิ๋ว: การออกแบบละครที่สร้างสรรค์จากสัญลักษณ์ทางพุทธศาสนา (Journey to the West: Theatrical design created from Buddhist symbols)

Abstract

บทความวิจัยนี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของโครงการวิจัยสร้างสรรค์ เรื่อง ไซอิ๋ว: การสร้างสรรค์ละครข้ามวัฒนธรรม มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) สร้างบทละครไทยจากการศึกษาสัญลักษณ์ทางพระพุทธศาสนาที่แฝงอยู่ในวรรณกรรม เรื่อง ไซอิ๋ว และ 2) ออกแบบสร้างสรรค์องค์ประกอบในการจัดแสดงละครรำ-เต้น เรื่อง ไซอิ๋ว จากบทละครที่สร้างขึ้นมาใหม่ โดยได้ศึกษาแนวคิดการวิจัยแบบงานสร้างสรรค์ศิลปะ-วิจัย และหลักการสร้างสรรค์การแสดง 7 ขั้นตอน เป็นกรอบในการวิจัย การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงคุณภาพใช้การวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา ผลการศึกษาพบว่า กระบวนการสร้างบทละคร เรื่อง ไซอิ๋ว มีกระบวนการทำงาน 3 ขั้นตอน ได้แก่ ค้นคว้ารวบรวมบทละคร วิเคราะห์ตีความพุทธสัญลักษณ์ และประกอบสร้างบทละครตามแนวทางโขนฉาก สำหรับแนวคิดในการสร้างสรรค์องค์ประกอบ มีแกนหลักความคิด 3 ประการ ได้แก่ 1) ใช้แนวทางในการดำเนินเรื่องแบบโขนฉาก 2) ใช้สัญลักษณ์ทางพุทธศาสนาที่แฝงอยู่ในวรรณกรรม เรื่อง ไซอิ๋ว เป็นวัตถุดิบหลัก ผสมลงไปในการจัดทำบท ฉากและเครื่องแต่งกาย และ 3) การผสมกลิ่นอายความเป็นจีนลงไปในการบรรจุเพลง รวมถึงการออกแบบฉากและการออกแบบเครื่องแต่งกาย นอกจากนี้ ข้อค้นพบจากการสร้างสรรค์โดยใช้แนวคิดการวิจัยบนฐานการปฏิบัติ (practice-based research) ในการออกแบบงานละครรำ-เต้นของไทย พบว่า สามารถช่วยให้ผู้สร้างสรรค์สามารถอธิบายที่มาของแนวคิดในการออกแบบองค์ประกอบต่าง ๆ ได้อย่างเป็นรูปธรรม และก่อให้เกิดแนวทางใหม่ ๆ ในการสร้างสรรค์ละครรำ-เต้นของไทย

This research article is part of a creative research project entitled “Journey to the West: Creating Cross-Cultural Theatrical Drama.” The objectives were to create Thai theatrical scripts based on the study of Buddhist symbolism embedded in the literature of “Journey to the West,” and to design and create components for the performance of a dance-theatre production of “Journey to the West” from newly developed scripts. The concept of practice-based research and the seven steps of the creative approach were implemented as a framework. The qualitative data was analyzed through content analysis. The findings revealed that the creation of this dance-drama involves three main steps: researching and collecting plays, analyzing and interpreting Buddhist symbolism, and composing the drama according to the Khon-Chak approach. Furthermore, there are three main concepts of creating dance theatre components: 1) using a Khon-Chak approach to storytelling, 2) utilizing Buddhist symbols hidden within the narrative of “Journey to the West” as primary materials for composing scripts, scenes, and costumes; and 3) blending Chinese cultural elements into song composition, scenic design, and costume design. In addition, using practice-based research in the design of Thai dance-drama productions can assist creators in explaining the origins of design concepts and inspire the creation of new Thai dance-dramas.
