การวิเคราะห์หลักการออกแบบจากสารัตถะย่านวัฒนธรรม : กรณีศึกษาย่านเจริญกรุง (Analysis of design principles from the essence of cultural district: A case study of Charoen Krung district)

Abstract

การออกแบบผ่านอัตลักษณ์ของความเป็นไทยมีจุดเด่นที่การสร้างสรรค์โดยอ้างอิงรากฐานศิลปวัฒนธรรม แต่มีข้ออุปสรรคด้านรูปแบบ และยากต่อการแข่งขันกับอุตสาหกรรมที่ผลิตจำนวนมาก ทำให้ยังจำกัดอยู่ในวงแคบ บทความนี้เรียบเรียงขึ้นเพื่ออภิปรายข้อค้นพบจากการศึกษาด้านศิลปะการออกแบบ โดยมุ่งศึกษาองค์ประกอบเชิงคุณค่าที่ปรากฏเป็นอัตลักษณ์สำคัญเฉพาะพื้นที่ เพื่อวิเคราะห์สารัตถะหรือแก่นสารความงาม โดยมีพื้นที่ศึกษา คือ ย่านเจริญกรุง กรุงเทพมหานคร ในฐานะพื้นที่ที่มีศักยภาพทางวัฒนธรรมแบบร่วมสมัย เพื่อสังเคราะห์เป็นหลักในการออกแบบผลงานสร้างสรรค์ ซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของวิทยานิพนธ์ เรื่อง สารัตถะย่านวัฒนธรรม การพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืนของกรุงเทพมหานคร โดยแสดงการวิเคราะห์ในมิติต่าง ๆ อาทิ มิติทางประวัติศาสตร์ของย่านเจริญกรุงที่สัมพันธ์กับบริบทการพัฒนาเมืองของกรุงเทพมหานคร มุมมองของพื้นที่แบบย่าน และชุมชนพหุวัฒนธรรม โดยใช้ทฤษฎีการออกแบบร่วมกับทฤษฎีสัญวิทยาแบบโครงสร้างนิยม ผลการวิเคราะห์ พบว่า องค์ประกอบเชิงคุณค่าที่เป็นตัวแทนผลผลิตทางสังคมของย่านเจริญกรุง ประกอบด้วย สภาวะอันเป็นคู่ตรงข้าม 2 ประการ คือ ภาพตัวแทนความหมายเชิงรูปธรรม และภาพตัวแทนความหมายเชิงนามธรรม ในฐานะที่เป็นสัญลักษณ์วัฒนธรรมที่ดำรงอยู่ท่ามกลางอิทธิพลที่ส่งต่อระหว่างกัน เมื่อนำผลการศึกษามาตีความเชิงอุปมาอุปไมย จึงสามารถสังเคราะห์เป็นหลักการออกแบบ DAV Model ในฐานะองค์ความรู้ทางกระบวนการออกแบบจากการวิเคราะห์มิติทางประวัติศาสตร์และมิติสังคมวัฒนธรรมของพื้นที่ย่านเจริญกรุง ซึ่งผลการศึกษาสามารถนำมาใช้สร้างกระบวนการออกแบบได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพในฐานะองค์ความรู้ใหม่ของการศึกษาด้านศิลปะการออกแบบ

Design rooted in Thai identity is characterized by creativity grounded in the foundations of traditional arts and culture. However, it often faces limitations in form and struggles to compete with mass production industries, restricting its broader application. This article discusses findings from a study focused on extracting design principles based on the core values embedded in visual elements that reflect local identity. The study analyzes the aesthetic essence of the Charoen Krung district in Bangkok, an area with significant contemporary cultural potential, to synthesize principles for creative design. This study forms part of a Ph.D. dissertation titled Cultural district’s essence: The sustainable development of Bangkok. This article explores multiple dimensions—including the historical context of Charoen Krung and its relation to Bangkok’s urban development, the spatial concept of “district,” and its multicultural community—through the application of design theory and structuralist semiotic theory. The analysis reveals two opposing yet interrelated value components that represent the district’s cultural output: concrete visual representations and abstract symbolic representations. These dual aspects function as cultural symbols that persist and evolve through mutual influence. By interpreting these findings metaphorically, the study synthesizes a set of design principles called the DAV Model, offering a conceptual framework for design practice grounded in the district’s historical, social, and cultural dimensions. The results contribute to the development of an efficient design methodology and offer new knowledge to the field of design arts.
