บทคัดย่อ

การเข้าใจกระบวนการสร้างประวัติศาสตร์ของเมืองแพร่ เป็นเสมือนแบบจำลองของพลวัตของความ เปลี่ยนแปลงแนวคิดทางประวัติศาสตร์ของสังคมไทย และประวัติศาสตร์ยังมีสถานะเป็นเครื่องยืนยันตำแหน่งแห่งที่ใน “ชาติไทย” ที่แสดงให้เห็นว่าบ้านเมืองต่างๆ ผูกพันเชื่อมโยงกับ “ชาติไทย” ในสถานะใด ซึ่งจะส่งผลต่อ “การรับรู้” ภาพลักษณ์ และความทรงจำต่อบ้านเมืองนั้นๆ อย่างมีนัยยะสำคัญ

ประวัติศาสตร์จึงเป็น “ความหมาย” ที่กำหนดทิศทางของบ้านเมืองอย่างไม่อาจหลีกเลี่ยงได้ และที่สำคัญประวัติศาสตร์นำมาสู่ตัวตนของบ้านเมือง และผู้คนของบ้านเมืองนั้นๆ ซึ่งนำมาสู่การสร้างประวัติศาสตร์ของบ้านเมืองของตนภายใต้กระแสประวัติศาสตร์ที่ทรงอิทธิพลในเวลานั้นๆ

ประวัติศาสตร์เมืองแพร่ในบทความนี้จึงมุ่งเสนอให้เห็นพลวัตของประวัติศาสตร์ในสังคมไทยที่มีความผันแปร และเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างไม่หยุดยั้ง ทำให้พรมแดนของประวัติศาสตร์มีการปักและถอนอยู่ตลอดเวลา รวมถึงประวัติศาสตร์ไม่เคยตาย แต่รับใช้ผู้คนอย่างไม่หยุดยั้ง

Abstract

Perception towards the historical process of Mueng Phrae is a model portraying dynamic transformation in historical paradigm in Thai society. Moreover, history itself remains as evidence for the position of different cities in the “Thai nation”. It reveals hierarchical relationships between municipalities and the “Thai nation”, which significantly affect “perception” towards image and memory on each particular city. Unsustainably, history is “the note” that is derived to direct the nation. History devises the identity of the nation, as well as those nation’s citizens, and constructs national history with certain influential historical schools at that moment.

In this article, Meung Phrae history reveals the dynamics of historical approaches in Thai society that perpetually vary and alter, which makes the border of history vitally move. History will never die but always serves people eternally.
