บทคัดย่อ

นิทานคำกาพย์มีบทบาทต่อสังคมไทยมาแต่โบราณ มีหลักฐานปรากฏชัดเจนในสมัยอยุธยาถึงรัตนโกสินทร์รัชกาลที่ 6 ในฐานะวรรณกรรมลายลักษณ์ของชาวบ้านสำหรับใช้สวดหรืออ่านในที่ประชุมชน หรือในครัวเรือน ใช้เป็นแบบฝึกหัดอ่านหนังสือให้คล่องของกุลบุตร และใช้เป็นสื่อกลางในการสร้างอานิสงส์ผลบุญในทางพระพุทธศาสนากวีมีความสามารถอย่างยิ่งในการถ่ายทอดความรู้ความคิดที่เป็นประสบการณ์ส่วนตนและประสบการณ์ร่วมซึ่งหยั่งรากลึกมาจากการเคารพเชื่อมั่นและศรัทธาในพระพุทธศาสนา นำความรอบรู้ทางวรรณกรรม การใช้ถ้อยคำความจัดเจนในชีวิตและสัจธรรมของโลก รวมทั้งจินตนาการ มาสร้างสรรค์เนื้อหา แนวคิด และวรรณศิลป์ ทำให้นิทานคำกาพย์มีโครงเรื่อง ตัวละคร และแนวคิดที่มีความสัมพันธ์เชื่อมโยงกันอย่างมีเอกภาพ ตัวละครมีลักษณะทางกายภาพพฤติกรรม และชะตากรรมที่พลิกผันตามโครงเรื่อง ซึ่งสะท้อนให้เห็นมุมมองของชีวิตภายใต้หลักไตรวัฏฏ์ ไตรลักษณ์และไตรสิกขา ประกอบกับชั้นเชิงทางวรรณศิลป์ สื่อความหมายตรงตามเนื้อเรื่อง สื่ออารมณ์ความรู้สึก ความรู้และความคิดของกวี ทำให้ผู้อ่านสนุกสนานเพลิดเพลินและเกิดปัญญาจากการรับรู้ชะตากรรมของตัวละครเป็นอุทาหรณ์ก่อให้ตระหนักถึงความสำคัญของชีวิตและสรรพสิ่งอันอาจส่งผลต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงตนเอง สังคม และโลกต่อไปได้นิทานคำกาพย์จึงมีคุณค่าอย่างยิ่งแม้จะผ่านกาลเวลามาเนิ่นนาน

Abstract

Kap folktales have been influential in Thai society since ancient times, with the existence of obviousevidence from the Ayutthaya Period to the Rattanakosin Period of King Rama 6. They were a disseminationof folk literature. They were used in prayer and recitation during social gatherings or in the household, andused as reading exercises for children. They were also used to worship the Lord Buddha. Poets have theintellect and skill to convey knowledge and ideas from the deep roots of respect, confidence and faith inBuddhism, a well-rounded knowledge of literature and its choice of words, and world-wide experience of life.In addition, poets have the imagination to create subject matter, and the good diction to convey meanings,ideas and feelings. These make for good characters and concepts, as well as a good and coherent plot. Thecharacters have specific images, qualifications, behaviour, and changing fortunes during the three cycles oflife. They also possess the three characteristics of Existence and the threefold training as representativesof society. Kap folktales are composed to convey meanings, feelings and concepts. This gives pleasure tothe readers and makes them wiser. Thus, the readers realize the importance of life and everything whichmay affect the changes within themselves, society and the world. Kap folktales are therefore still a veryvaluable form of literature, even though they have existed for a long time.
