Guideline of Participatory Conservation of Natural Water Resources to Enhance Tourism in Riverside Communities of Bandon Bay Area

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the situation of natural water resources conservation in tourism promotion, to analyze roles of stakeholders, and to find a guideline of participatory natural water resources conservation for tourism promotion of waterfront communities in Bandon bay. Mix research methods was conducted for this study; the questionnaire was collected from 400 people, and interview guidelines were conducted from community leaders, tourism leaders, local government officers and participants from private sector until saturation. The results showed that people living in the waterfront communities involved in natural water resources conservation to promote tourism as a whole, operations and evaluation were at a low level but the benefit was moderate. The roles of natural water resources conservation were to promote tourism as a whole, the maintenance and protection, troubleshooting, rehabilitation and development were at a low level. The people should be promoted to participate and play greater roles, be the main host of natural water resources conservation together with the community and tourism leaders, with the support of the public and private sectors both in and out of the communities.
