Knowledge, Barriers, and Exercise Performances Among the Elderly in Sakon Nakhon Province

Abstract

This research aimed to study the knowledge, obstacles, and exercise performances among the elderly in Sakon Nakhon Province. The subjects were 400 elderlies through Multi-Stage Random Sampling method. The instrument was a set of questionnaires designed by the researcher at reliable value of 0.85. The statistics employed to analyze the data were frequency distribution, mean, and standard deviation (S.D.). The findings revealed that elderly group in Sakon Nakhon Province have knowledge of exercise moderate level (gif.latex?\bar{x}= 3.00, S.D. = 1.06). The knowledge about benefits of exercise was the most found ( gif.latex?\bar{x} =3.47, S.D. = 1.06). The barriers on exercises rated in moderate level (gif.latex?\bar{x} = 2.81, S.D. = 1.16). The problem in inconvenient health was the most found for the barrier on exercise ( gif.latex?\bar{x}= 3.20, S.D. = 1.23). The exercise behavior rated in sometimes (gif.latex?\bar{x} = 3.14, S.D. = 1.15). The most found for the exercise behaviors was stopping exercises when they get sick ( gif.latex?\bar{x}= 3.93, S.D. = 1.21).
