Rice culture and customs of southern Thailand

Abstract
This academic article aims to study the rice culture of Thai people in the south. Field study and interviewing by online were essential research methodology. Documentary research also applied in the study. The results of the study concluded that (1) there is a legend about rice in southern society about the problem between Mae Phosop and Bodhisattva. (2) In terms of rituals, it was found that people in the south performed rice kwan ceremony, tied rice, and some localities had a procession of sangked rice before the planting season. And the La Sang ceremony at the end of the farming season. (3) In terms of customs, it is found that rice is related to people in society throughout the year. Which deals with traditions, beliefs and religious rituals and traditional beliefs.
