Increasing The Competitiveness of The Canned Food Exporters Compared to The Dry Food Exporters in Thailand by Resource-Based Theory

Abstract

ABSTRACT


The purpose of this research was to study the influence of resources and capabilities of organizations under the Resource-Based theory on the competitiveness of the canned food export businesses and dried food export businesses in Thailand both directly and indirectly. The conceptual framework of this study was derived from the study of concepts and theories related to Resource-Based View (RBV), the competitive advantage and the competitiveness. This study employed the quantitative research methodologies. The results were obtained from 110 questionnaires (58 from the canned food export businesses and 52 from dried food export businesses). The researcher used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) as the techniques to analyze the data. The research findings are as follows: The resources and capabilities of the organization of the canned food export businesses include: (1) skill (2) motivation (3) working culture (4) partnership with suppliers and (5) customer relationship and postponement have positive influences on the competitive advantage but have positive indirect influences on the competitiveness through the competitive advantage same as dried food export businesses. As strategic competitive advantage consists of (1) the cost advantage and (2) the differentiate advantage have direct influence on the competitiveness of the canned food export businesses in Thailand but have not direct influence on the competitiveness of dried food export businesses in Thailand.
