The Model of Academic Leadership Development of Teacher Employees in Savannakhet University, Lao People's Democratic Republic

Abstract

This study aims to 1) study the components and indicators of academic leadership that should be developed for the teacher staff at Savannakhet University (SKU); 2) create and develop the model for developing academic leadership at SKU; and 3) evaluate the exactness, suitability, possibility, and helpfulness of the academic leadership development model for teacher stuff at SKU, Lao People's Democratic Republic. This study uses research and development (R&D), and the research was divided into 3 phases: Phase 1: a study of the components of the academic leadership development model for teacher staff; Phase 2: design and improvement of the academic leadership development model for teacher staff; and Phase 3: field trial and conclusion, in which each phase used a population or sample number of 152, 10, and 30 people, respectively. Phase 1 of the research was to study the components of teacher-staff academic leadership using the research tool questionnaire; Phase 2 was the creation and development of a model for the academic leadership development of teachers and staff; and Phase 3 was the examination of the effectiveness of the model for the academic leadership development of teacher staff by actual field trials. The data analysis method for quantitative characteristics was provided by statistical software packages, and part of the qualitative data was analyzed by text analysis, which is the mean analysis. The research findings were as follows: 1. Components of the academic leadership of teachers at Savannakhet University, Lao People's Democratic Republic. Overall, the teaching staff at Savannakhet University had an academic leadership component at a high level: 2. Creation and development of the model for developing academic leadership at SKU: the overall exactness, suitability, possibility, and helpfulness were very high level, high level, high level, and high level, respectively: 3. The effectiveness examination of the model for the academic leadership development of teacher staff before and after using the development model trials was middle-level and high-level, respectively, and the evaluation result of the academic leadership development model of teacher staff is high level.
