Development of problem based learning management to promote life skills and careers in the Science for electrical works electronics and communication of first year High Vocational Certificate Students

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study the approaches of problem-based learning management in order to promote life skills and career and to study the development of life skills and career in science of electrical, electronics and communication of first year higher certificate students. The methodology of this research was classroom action research. The participants were 21 High Vocational Certificate Students at a vocational institution in Sukhothai Province, derived from Purposive Sampling. The tools used for this research were the lesson plan, reflect-recording form, behavioral observation plan and learning activity sheet by using content data analysis and triangular qualified data examine. The outcome of this research found that the learning management to promote life skills and career should be based on the closed problems, daily life problems or problems caused in career to allow learners to analyze problems and examples relating to real situations should be performed. These learning processes consisted of 6 steps, including 1. stating problems 2. understanding problems 3. conducting a study, 4, synthesizing 5) summarizing and evaluating the outcome and 6) presenting and evaluating the outcomes. In addition, it was found that problem-based learning management can promote the learners to have more life skills and career in every operational cycle. The majority of them have high skill level. The learners, however, need to be developed skills continuously in order to allow the learners to develop there life skills and careers effectively.
