Common-Pool Resource Management for Sustainable Use of Renewable Natural Resources: A Case Study of Namtok Phlio National Park and Khao Chamao-Khao Wong National Park
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objective of this research article is to determine guidelines for managing renewable natural resources in national parks in accordance with Elinor Ostrom’s approach of common-pool resources management. Qualitative methodology was applied for collecting data from two target areas of the conservation and sustainable use of renewable natural resources project : Namtok Phlio National Park and Khao Chamao-Khao Wong National Park. There are 5 key recommendations from the study including; 1) the conservation project areas must be clearly designated for effective management; 2) determining the qualifications of permitted groups of people according to the law; 3) creating natural utilization regulations that are consistent with social conditions and are mutually acceptable; 4) creating participation between national park officials and the people; and 5) establishing effective mechanisms for managing conflicts from the use of natural resources.
