The Development of an English Writing Training Course to Enhance Persuasive Writing in Soft Skills

Abstract

The purposes of this research were: 1) to study the need for developing the training course            2) to construct and develop the training course    3) to implement the training course and 4) to evaluate the outcomes of training course implementation. The samples were 30 students (Try out). The research tools were: 1) a training course needs survey 2) an English persuasive writing test 3) an evaluation form of satisfaction, and 4) an evaluation form of training course implementation. The collected data were analyzed by using percentage, mean, standard deviation, and the sign test. The findings were as follows:    1) The needs for the English writing training course to enhance persuasive writing in soft skills were at a high level. 2) The developed training course consisted of 6 components: principles, objectives, contents, learning activities, learning materials, and evaluation. 3) The participants’ persuasive English writing skills posttest was higher than that of the pretest at a statistically significant level of .01. 4) The participants were satisfied with the training course at the highest level (equation =4.54) and 5) The opinions on outcomes of training course implementation in all aspects were adequate at a high level (equation =4.41).
