Strategies for Promoting Public Participation Affecting Local Development of Local Administrative Organizations in Phichit Province

Abstract

This research aimed to (1) examine the levels of strategies for promoting public participation and local development, (2) compare strategies for promoting public participation affecting local development classified by personal factors, and (3) analyze the relationship between strategies for promoting public participation and local development of local administrative organizations in Phichit Province. The sample consisted of 400 eligible voters of local administrative organizations in Phichit Province during 2024-2025, selected through proportional accidental sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire that was validated by experts, with an Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) of .84 and an overall reliability coefficient of .812. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way analysis of variance, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. The findings revealed that: 1) the overall levels of strategies for promoting public participation and local development were high; 2) differences in strategies for promoting public participation were found among respondents of different age groups; and 3) strategies for promoting public participation were positively correlated with local development of local administrative organizations in Phichit Province, both overall and by dimension, at the .01 level of statistical significance, with a high correlation coefficient (r = .77). These results indicate that greater emphasis on strategies for promoting public participation by local administrative organizations leads to higher levels of local development, supporting the second research hypothesis.
