Art Instructional Model Based on “Art analysis, Social analysis and Self analysis” Approach to Promote the Critical Thinking and the Emotional Intelligence of Undergraduate Students of an Imaging Art Field, Faculty of Fine Arts

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to find out the effective an Art instructional model Instructional Model based on “Art analysis, Social analysis and Self analysis.” Approach to promote the critical thinking and the emotional intelligence of undergraduate students of an Art Field, 2) to find the effectiveness of the developed teaching model. 2.1) to compare the critical thinking ability of art students before and after using the teaching model. 2.2) to compare the emotional intelligence of art students before and after using the teaching model. 2.3) to study the satisfaction of students with the teaching model. The samples were the 20 undergraduate students of painting major of Visual Arts Field of Faculty of Arts, Srinakharinwirot University in the first semester of academic year 2019 by purposive sampling to suit the research of the instructional model of art. Research instruments included lesson plans of the developed instructional model; analysis worksheet, social analysis and self -analysis.  The Emotional Intelligence Assessment Form (E.Q) of the Department of Mental Health, an art evaluation form of undergraduate students, and the satisfaction questionnaire of the instructional model. The data were analyzed by mean, standard deviation, t-test, and content analysis. The findings were as follows: 1) An Art Instructional Model based on “Three Aspects’ Analysing” Approach to Promote the Critical Thinking and the Emotional Intelligence of Undergraduate Students of an Art Field consists of 4 components:               (1) principles, (2) objectives, (3) 5 stages of instructional procedures including introducing objectives of the course /how to learn/ disciplines and rules, exchanging art data, analysing the artists’ products of products analysis , social analysis and self - analysis, creating products from 3 analysis of products analysis , social analysis and self-analysis, and evaluating products to look for the good and weak points in order to develop the following products according to 5 stages of instructional procedures, and repeating the 4th step in order to gain expertise and fluency of  products analysis , social analysis and self-analysis, and (4) assessment and evaluation. The experts confirmed that all elements of the model were appropriate.
