Basic Understanding of the Law that Allows the End of the Patient's Life

Authorization to end a patient's life is a complex issue as it involves the concept of death, human rights, the legal system, as well as the social readiness and health system of that country to allow it. In Thailand, it is illegal and unethical to end a patient's life. So far, there has been some confusion regarding the authorization of end-of-life with palliative care. concerning the making of a letter of intent to receive public health services. Therefore, it is wise to study foreign law and practice on such matters as a guideline for the use and interpretation of Thai medical law. and to predict as well as preparing for the legal policy of the Thai state regarding the permission to end the life of patients in Thailand.

“วินิจฉัยโรค” คือบอกว่า “เป็นโรคอะไร” การวินิจฉัยโรคเกิดจากการซักประวัติ ตรวจร่างกาย การ X-ray ตรวจทางห้องปฏิบัติการ ฯลฯ แล้วนำข้อมูลมาประมวลเข้ากันเป็นการวินิจฉัยโรคและในบางโรคจะมีเกณฑ์มาตรฐานในการวินิจฉัยที่เรียกว่า Criteria of diagnosis ซึ่งประกอบด้วยอาการแสดงของโรคถ้าผู้ป่วยมีเกณฑ์ครบตามที่กำหนดก็จะได้รับการวินิจฉัยว่าเป็นโรคนั้น
“พยากรณ์โรค” คือการบอกว่าผู้ป่วยที่เป็นโรคนี้จะหายเมื่อใดหรือจะมีชีวิตอยู่ได้นานแค่ไหน การพยากรณ์โรคเกิดจากหลักสถิติ การวิจัยและสังเกตโรคหรือสภาวะหนึ่งจำนวนมากและนานพอ จนทำให้พอจะเข้าใจการดำเนินไปของโรคตลอดจนความเปลี่ยนแปลงไปของสภาพร่างกายผู้ป่วย การพยากรณ์โรคจึงมีความคลาดเคลื่อนและเบี่ยงเบนได้เสมอตามสภาพร่างกายตลอดจนการดำเนินของโรคในผู้ป่วยแต่ละราย โดยการพยากรณ์โรคเป็นขั้นตอนถัดจากการวินิจฉัยโรค
