REVEALED COMPARATIVE ADVANTAGE INDEX (RCA) OF THAI SILK INDUSTRY WITH ASEAN COMPETITORS

The study has the objective was to study the comparative advantage of Thai Silk industry by using Revealed Comparative Advantage Index (RCA) in the period of 2004-2013. These analyses were conducted among Thailand and competitors such as the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam in the three major export markets: World, America, and ASEAN.
The results showed that Thailand has the competitive advantage in the export to ASEAN market, while Philippines and Indonesia have competitive advantage in the export to America market because the RCA of those countries is greater than 1, and Vietnam has RCA greater than 1 for three markets in the period of 2004-2013.
