Organizational Innovation and Knowledge Management as Intermediate Variables Linking Transformational Leadership to Working Performance of Personnel in Provincial Administrative Organizations in Andaman Southern Region

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the level of transformational leadership, organizational innovation, knowledge management, and working performance of personnel in Provincial Administrative organizations in the Andaman Southern Region; and 2) to study organizational innovation and knowledge management as mediator variables linking transformational leadership to working performance. This research is a mixed-method study between qualitative research with a key informant group of six executives from the six provincial administrative organizations in the Andaman southern region and quantitative research with a sample of 500 people in the provincial administrative organizations in the Andaman southern region. The samples were stratified random sampling and simple random sampling. The research tool was a questionnaire. The statistics used were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and structural equation modeling (SEM) using the PLS Graph 3.0 program. Research results found that 1) personnel in the provincial administrative organization in the southern Andaman Southern region have an overall average high level of transformational leadership, organizational innovation, knowledge management and work performance with mean values of 4.05, 4.08, 3.96 and 4.14, respectively, and standard deviations of .743, .600, .628, and .529, respectively; and 2) transformational leadership, organizational innovation, and knowledge management have a direct influence on work performance with values of 0.489, 0.077 and 1.393, respectively. In addition, transformational leadership has an indirect influence on work performance with the value of 1.337.
