Guidelines for Promoting Basic Behavior as Buddhist Students, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Burapha University

Abstract

             This research aimed at finding guidelines to promote basic practices as Buddhists of students from Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Burapha University using qualitative research protocols by which a group discussion of 10 designated participants was utilized to find a guideline as such. The data was analyzed by means of content analysis.

             The research results found that the guidelines to promote basic practices as Buddhists of students from faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Burapha University should be activities, projects, integrations of ethics in daily life into courses, and role models. It may be focused mainly on the activities or projects for students who are interested in participating in the activities initially. Departments and faculty should help promote these. And for students who are not interested in participating in the activities, they should be encouraged to participate in the activities thoroughly by designing activity hours required by the university for each student before graduation. The models, activities, and projects promoting basic practices as Buddhists of students could be various and motivative. They should be widely publicized. People in charge with these could be in the form of an action committee that is jointly responsible between the faculty administrative staff, department staff, and student representatives.
