The Research and Study of Tribesman’s Art and Craft Information for the Development of Mea Sariang District Mae Hongson’s Craftmanship Products

This research aimed to 1) study the basketry data in Mae Hong Sorn province 2) develop and create Mae Hong Sorn’s basketry and 3) relay knowledge about basketry development to the communities in Mae Hong Sorn. The population were basketry users, basketry producers, basketry dealers, production design experts and inhabitants in Mae Sariang district. The sample group were 80 people from purposive sampling; including production design experts, basketry producers and dealers, and provincial developer of Mae Hong Sorn. The research result from data collection tools and analysis shown that
1) Most of the basketry products were general daily use products and the knowledge were relayed from the previous generation family members.
2) The researchers had developed and created two kinds of basketry prototype, lamp and bag, and had found that the sketches from the experts were lack of development in product form and used unappropriated materials.
3) The products evaluation from basketry producers and dealers’ aspect, overview for the developed basketry lamp was satisfied in the good level (mean 4.41) for both product form and using purpose. The using appropriation was in the good level (mean 4.39), the beauty was in the good level (mean 4.38), the material and manufacturing process was also in the good level (4.81). Overview for the developed basketry bag was satisfied in the good level (mean 4.43) for both product form and using purpose, too. The using appropriation was in the good level (4.40), the beauty was in the good level (mean 4.40), the material and manufacturing process was in the good level (mean 4.51).
4) The relay about basketry development knowledge to community was satisfied by students who were part of population in the community. They found that the result from this research was useful for Mae Hong Sorn inhabitants, it was value, unique and able to invest for the commercial purpose sustainably.
