The Development of Reading and Writing Skill Package for the Students with Learning Disabilities in First Level Primary Education for the Teachers in Urban Community Schools in Chiangmai Province
The purposes of this research were to develop the Reading and Writing Skill Package for the Students with Learning Disabilities in First Level Primary Education for the Teachers in Urban Community Schools in Chiangmai Province. The sampling groups consisted of 9 teachers selected by purposive sampling, from 9 schools under the office of Chiangmai Municipality and the Office of Chiang Mai Educational Service, there were Wat Chiangyuen Municipality School, Wat Srisupan Municipality School, Anuban Chiangmai School, Roumsoon Wat Houikaew School, Bansamrung School, Banpakmuang School, Banmoungtoan School and Bansaimoon School. The research instruments were 1) the 6 units of Reading and Writing Skill Package; the Readiness Unit, My Body Unit, My Family Unit, Toys and Appliance Unit, Animal Planet Unit and Worthy Natural Unit 2) the pre-test and post-test. In data analysis, the means and percentage of scores were used. Research findings were as follows: The efficiency of the Reading and Writing Skill Package for the Students with Learning Disabilities in First Level Primary Education were specified at 80.00/80.00 percent. The result of the experimental of each unit were; the reading skill in Readiness Unit were 90.80/ 92.40 and the writing skill were 90.60/93.30, the reading skill in Animal Planet Unit were 84.00/ 89.00 and the writing skill were 83.20/84.80, the reading skill in Worthy Natural Unit were 90.41/ 93.33 and the writing skill were 86.66/90.00, the reading skill in My Body Unit were 91.33/96.00 and the writing skill were 88.33/88.66, the reading skill in Toys and Appliance were 84.00/89.00 and the writing skill were 77.50/83.30, the reading skill in My Family Unit were 84.70/92.70 and the writing skill were 89.10/90.70. The achievement in reading and writing skill of the students with Learning Disabilities after using the Reading and Writing Skill Package for the Students with Learning Disabilities in First Level Primary Education in all unit were higher than the criterion which were set at 75 percent but when compared the score of the progress in reading and writing skill of the Learning Disabilities’ students between each unit found that the progress of the development in reading and writing skill in the Worthy Natural Unit were the highest and the Animal Planet Unit were the least.
