Cross-Cultural Adaption of Students in 2+2 and 3+1 of Chinese Language Department, Rangsit University

Abstract
The objective of this research were: to explore the adaptation among students enrolled in the 2+2 and 3+1 Continuing Educational Program of the Chinese Department, Rangsit University and to adopt the approach for the students of the Chinese Language Department who are interested to participate in the 2+2 and 3+1 Continuing Educational Program of the Chinese Language Department, Rangsit University. The mixed-methods methodology was employed using the interview guideline and survey questionnaire. A group of five students from three
Chinese universities consisted of Guangxi Normal University, Beijing Language and Culture University, and Shanghai International Studies University participated in the interviews. In terms of surveys, the questionnaires were distributed to sixty-one students enrolled in the 2+2 and 3+1 Continuing Educational Program of the Chinese Language Department, Rangsit University from 2016 to 2018. The questionnaire is comprised of general information and three aspects of adaption: 1) education 2) communication 3) socialization, and open-ended question.
The research findings suggested the adaptation which students could pursue the best was socialization at an average score of 4.04. The second was education at an average score of 3.84 while the communication was the last at an average adaption score of 3.60. All three aspects were at the optimum level. In addition, it was found that the students had run to difficulties with accommodation and food. The research recommendations were: the students should develop the communication skill in Chinese, participate in the organized preparation activities and training sessions before traveling, and acquaint with senior students who had enrolled in other related programs of the Chinese Language Department, Rangsit University. These recommendations would be positively contributed to the cross-cultural adaptation among Thai students who enrolled in the programs to study in China.
