ไทลื้อเป็นกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์หนึ่งที่พูดภาษาในตระกูลไต อาศัยอยู่ทางตอนใต้ของประเทศจีน ทางตะวันออกของพม่า ทางตอนเหนือของลาว เวียดนามและไทย สำหรับในประเทศไทยแล้ว  พบชาวไทลื้ออาศัยอยู่ในจังหวัด แม่ฮ่องสอน แพร่ น่าน พะเยา เชียงราย เชียงใหม่ และลำพูน  ซึ่งภาษาและวัฒนธรรมชาวไทลื้อมีความแตกต่างจากคนเมืองหรือคนล้านนา ทำให้นักวิชาการทั้งชาวไทยและชาวต่างประเทศสนใจศึกษาภาษาและวัฒนธรรมไทลื้อ นับตั้งแต่ระยะยุคสงครามโลกครั้งที่สองจนถึงปัจจุบัน ซึ่งตลอดระยะเวลาที่ผ่านมานั้น แนวคิดการศึกษากลุ่มชาติพันธุ์ไทลื้อไม่ได้หยุดนิ่งมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงไปตามกระแสแนวคิดในแต่ละช่วงเวลา

 Abstract

Tai Lue is the one Tai ethnic which speaks Tai dialectic; live in the southern China, near by the eastern Myanmar, the northern Laos, the northern Vietnam, and the northern Thailand. Tai Lue in Thailand settles in Mae Hong Son, Prae, Nan, Phayao, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, and Lamphun. Because of The Tai Lue’s Language and Culture are difference from the northern Thai people “Kon Muang” or Lanna people that is reason why many researchers in Thailand and overseas interested in their language and culture. Since the 1930s, the World War II up to present according to the period of time so long time, the concepts of Tai Lue ethnic studies are changed and affected.
