Water resources management: A case study of Tha Chin basin and river branches

This research aims to study the problems of Tha Chin basin and river branches together with the cooperation between communities, local administration, government agencies and related parties to manage water resources for consumption, agriculture and disaster management (floods, droughts) in Tha Chin basin and river branches. This qualitative research data were collected by 20 key informant interviewees and documentary analysis. The data were analyzed by using content analysis. The results of the research were as follows: (1) the condition of Tha Chin basin and river branches was characterized by deterioration of water quality, infiltration of saline water in Tha Chin river, the lack of fresh water for agriculture in the dry season; and (2) water resources management was collaboration between communities, local government organization, government agencies and related parties in spatial network form, to identify mechanisms for water user organizations with clear working structures for reducing the conflicts between water users and spatial injustice.
