The Development of an English Learning Model Based on Learning Management in the 21st Century to Promote Creative Problem-Solving Skills for Mathayomsuksa 5 Students

Abstract

This research aimed to develop an English language learning model to enhance creative problem-solving skills in Mathayomsuka 5 students, based on 21st-century learning approaches. This Research and Development (R&D) study was conducted in three phases: fundamental data analysis, model development, and effectiveness evaluation. The study targeted 36 Grade 11 students (Class 5/10) from Kamalasai School in the first semester of the 2024 academic year, selected via cluster random sampling. Data were collected using lesson plans, academic achievement tests, creative problem-solving skills tests, and a satisfaction survey, and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings revealed that the developed model, comprising five steps (Engaging the Problem/Situation, brainstorming, generating alternatives, problem-solving, and knowledge construction), achieved an efficiency index (E1/E2) of 86.28/86.77 and an effectiveness index (E.I.) of 0.80, both exceeding the 80/80 benchmark. Creativity problem-solving skills were significantly improved (p < .05) compared to pre-learning scores. Students also reported high satisfaction with the model. The results indicate that the developed English learning model is a practical pedagogical approach for improving students' creative problem-solving skills and academic performance.
