The research entitled, “A Model of Social Capital Development of Village Philosophers” has three objectives as follows: 1) to analyze the confirmatory factor of social capital of village philosophers, 2) to conduct a model of social capital development of village philosophers, and 3) to evaluate a model of social capital development of village philosophers. Three stages had been undertaken through this research.
The first stage was to analyze the confirmatory factors of social capital of village philosophers. The sample of the first stage was 532 village philosophers and the research tools were the recoding of document analysis and the questionnaire on social capital of village philosophers based on five rating scales with 0.978 validity. The statistics used in this stage were percentage, standard deviation, and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA).
The second stage was to conduct a model of social capital development of village philosophers. In this stage, the data were collected by interviewing nine experts and through focus group meetings of seventeen experts. The research tools employed in this stage were a semi-structure interview and group discussion recording, and the statistics used was the content analysis.
The third stage was to evaluate a model of social capital development of village philosophers by five experts. The research tool of the third stage was the evaluation form of a model of social capital development of village philosophers, and the statistics used were percentage and standard division.
The findings of this research were as follows: In the first stage, the result of confirmatory factor analysis of social capital of village philosophers has been confirmed consisting six factors: social networking, responsibility, trustworthiness, organizational culture, communication, and working efficiency and effectiveness.
In the second stage, a model of social capital development of village philosophers has a structure that revealed the correlation of social capital confirmatory factor of two groups of village philosophers; including six factors of three internal factors and three external factors. The group of village philosophers has three internal factors which are responsibility, organizational culture, and working efficiency and effectiveness. And the group of village philosophers has three external factors which are social networking, trustworthiness, and communication. Each factor revealed methods or guidelines for social capital development of village philosophers.
In the third stage, the results of evaluating a model of social capital development of village philosophers revealed four aspects which are accuracy, appropriateness, feasibility, and benefits. Firstly, the accuracy of the conducted model was at the highest level having 4.90 of means and .13 of standard division. Secondly, the appropriateness of the conducted model was at the high level having 4.65 of means and .40 of standard deviation. Thirdly, the feasibility of the conducted model was at the high level having 4.41 of means and .39 of standard division. Lastly, the benefit of the conducted model was at the highest level having 4.77 of means and .44 of standard division.
