Abstract

This study aims to investigate factors influencing a decision made by a Thai professional football club to foreign an alliance with a foreign football club. The qualitative data were collected through an in-depth interview with seven senior managers of professional football clubs, and analyzed by the content analysis technique. Quantitative data were collected through a questionnaire targeted at 191 respondents working for the organizations associated with professional football clubs in Thailand, and analyzed by structural equation modeling.

The findings revealed push factors as internal factors to develop management structure and youth team development, and internal management of an alliance which focused on sincerity and collaboration as prescribed in the contract.
