Life After Retirement: Experiences of Elders in Thailand

Abstract

            The research objective was to study life experiences of the elderly after retirement. This is the qualitative research using philosophical theory from Edmund Husserl’s Phenomenology. The subjects were 15 elderly who were purposively selected. Data were collected by in-depth interview using content analysis. The research results showed main issues of life experiences of the elderly after retirement including: 1) dreaming of happiness after retirement 2) real life after retirement and 3) preparing for happy living before retirement. The results could help nurses and health team members in understanding life experiences of the elderly after retirement and planing for care of the elderly in Thailand to live happily.
