Abstract

          This research objective was to develop a communication model for farmers changing to organic agriculture in Ban Jumrung community, Klaeng District, Rayong Province. This was participatory action research that was separated into 2 research teams. The first was an academic research team of a teacher and students of the Communication Arts Department. The other was a community research team of the community headman, Klaeng District agriculture technocrat, and farmers. The process of data collection was: 1) community surveying; 2) study the problems of organic agriculture; 3) the communication for changing farmers to organic agriculture; 4) farmers changing to organic agriculture; and 5) confidence building for farmers after decision making. Data collection was as follows: interviewing, observation, group discussion, community forum, and the tools of surveying the community. The result of this research found that communication can help farmers to decide to change to organic agriculture. They set up an “organic fruit” project in the community by participatory communication.
