Abstract

This research aims to study background activity characteristic and use behavior
of space between commercial buildings in area of Yaowarat: Plang-Nam road,
Isaranuphap road and Padung-dao road from past to present. To analyze potential
problems, limitations, linkage, trends of land use in different contexts. And define
guideline for approach to development in the area of study.
This qualitative research and descriptive research by identifying sample group
in specific study. Tool use of this research are survey research, observation, recording
tool or recording form in recording the behavior of space use and data collection
which derived from observations in the study area classify by the content of events
that occurred in the area between buildings from how people use area, cars and
businesses.
The study found that China town is a unique area. The space is used in
accordance with religious beliefs, to pay respect to god, spring festival and vegetarian
festival. Focus on both retail and wholesale trade. From the study of alleys in the area
of education the problem can be categorized, such as invasion in public place,
flowerpot, bicycle or bike, stall and the addition of the awning in front of and a side of
the building. Cleanness issues which arising from the many activities. The researchers
propose ways to solve each side of the road problems for the 3 alleys, depending on
context of each area. By considering with nature of activities of people in the area as
major and presented as graphics and practice guidelines regarding to context of the
area on those 3 alleys.
