Abstract

This survey study is to explore graduates’ perceptions of their English-language
competency according to Thailand Qualifications Framework for Higher Education.
Variable explored in the study was the perceptions of the senior students in the fourth
year of their study from three majors in the two faculties at a Rajabhat University in
Bangkok have of their English-language competency. They were randomly selected
including 78 forth-year students from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the
Faculty of Education: 23 Business-English major and 23 English major students in the
first same faculty and 32 English major students in the later faculty. Questionnaires
were developed and posted online via Google Form, by which the access could be
done at their convenience. Their perceived English-language competency regarding 1)
passive skills (i.e., listening and reading skills) and 2) active skills (i.e., speaking and
writing skills) for variety of language function/purposes in which English is used to
communicate were elicited.
