Abstract

This study aimed to study the dietary habits that affect the oral health of
preschool children at Ban Tanab Child Development Center, Tambon Thung Kula, Tha
Tum District, Surin province. The instrument to collect data was a questionnaire about
dietary habits affecting oral health of pre-school children and these questionnaires
were analysed by frequency distribution in percentage. The samples were pre-school
children at Ban Tanab Child Development Center, Tambon Thung Kula, Tha Tum
District, Surin Province by using Tarotamane's tolerance formula that the calculated.
The sample size was 44 persons. The study indicated that dietary habits that usually
affected the dental carewere eating chocolate snacks, followed by daily bread with
Ovaltine.Behaviors that were sometimes practiced were eating crunchy snacks, and
Thai desserts such as Thong Yib, Thong Yod, and Foi Tong.
The study found that behavior in food consumption affected dental care
prevalent among pre-school children aged 3-5 years at Ban Tan Sub-district Child
Development Center, TambonThung Kula, Tha Tum District, Surin Province. Most preschool children behaviors included the eating of food that was sweet, contained a lot
of sugar, and most had decay tooth. To reduce the incidence of dental care, the
relevant health authorities should regularly check the oral health of pre-school
children aged 3-5 and educate teachers, parents, and children that sweet food with
sucrose is an ingredient that causes acidification and causes tooth decay.
