Power of Characters in Thai Drama

This research was in the subject of authoritarianism from the performing roles
of the actors in Thai drama: 1) To study the role-play of power for the actors in Thai
drama; and 2) To study the use of power characteristics in Thai drama. This research
was the documentary with the following steps: 1) Study documents and video media
from TV play in the title name of Rakluang in the Club Friday Series from channel 25;
and 2 Use the content analysis to arrange the story and present it in descriptive details.
According to the results, it found: 1.2) characteristics of the role-play of power for the
actors in Thai drama; 1.1) the using of power through verbal language is not the from
directing power from the actors, except for when it is from the writers of play; 1.2) the
using of power through non-verbal language was comprised of 7 attributes, namely,
1.2.1) faces, 1.2.2) eye contact, 1.2.3) body language, 1.2.4) areas of positions and
levels, 1.2.5) distances, 1.2.6) voices, and 1.2.7) other things; and 2) characteristics of
power in Thai drama with 2 attributes: 2.1) types of power expressed through the
relationships of the actors, namely 2.1.1) the vertical power the actors expressing in
three ways that are through the relationships in family, through the relationships in the
workplace, and through the relationships of body; and 2.1.2) the horizontal power the
actors expressed through the relationships in the workplace; 2.2.2) characteristics of
using power; namely, 2.2.1) the use of power through verbal language and non-verbal
language with requirements of the actors; and 2.2.2) the rebelling and resistance of
power. As the result, the tool used in displaying power most was the body.
