Abstract

This research studies the Lao Khrang ethnic cultural capital in the Ban Thung Si Long community, Don Tum district, Nakhon Pathom, Pathom Province and the guidelines for promoting cultural tourism. This educational research used a qualitative research approach and in-depth interview method to collect data. The target population comprised of community leaders, village philosophers, and 18 people living in the Ban Thung Si Long community. It was found that the Lao Khrang ethnic cultural capital has its own unique distinct identity and identity. The cultural capital is divided into tangible cultural capital with various cultural components as can be seen through the heirloom. It is the local wisdom. It is what makes the people unique with their action and way of life that is different from those in other areas. It consists of languages, beliefs, customs, music, and rituals. They are both traditional wisdom and modern wisdom. The form of community cultural capital can be divided into two types: 1. things that are embedded in people or groups, such as ideas and beliefs; and 2. things that are tangible, such as basketry equipment and fabric pattern. The results showed that the guidelines for promoting cultural tourism require cooperation from all parties involved, the community leaders, philosophers, and people in the community, together with the support of government organizations. The guidelines have been summarized into four aspects as follows:1. personnel, 2. budgeting, 3. management, and 4. participation. The recommendation for government agencies is as follows:1) there should be integration of the government sector and related agencies to assist the development of personnel and promote tourism activities, sustainable tourism; and 2) the creation of continuous jobs and activities. The recommendations for the community are that the community administration should have transparency and the people in the community should have opportunity to participate in tourism activities. The community should also have a clear income distribution focusing on the benefits of the community.
