Abstract

This research aimed to study the history of inheritance and how to develop cultural products from the hand-woven silk wisdom “baan Krua” of the Manuthat family. Using qualitative research methods in case studies, data were collected from in-depth interviews with 18 people: Manuthat family members, silk weavers, people who used to weave silk in the community, network agencies, customers who bought silk and people who knew and were interested in silk but never bought it. Analyze and present the results with descriptive narration. 

The results of the research showed that the Manuthas family inherited wisdom from the ancestors of the Cham ethnic group in Cambodia, settled in Thailand since 1787. Passed down to children and passed down to grandchildren, including more than 230 years of wisdom, the fabric was originally weaved for household use and officially began the development of silk weaving for sale in 1951. To date, the total age of silk sales is more than 130 years, now inherited by the 3rd generation successor, the wisdom of silk has been developed as a cultural product, classified into 4 aspects, namely, resource development for silk production and weaving. The concept of income distribution to community members and entrepreneurial networks has emerged. The development of cultural products to create and upgrade the quality of products under the network agencies and product certification marks, the development and expansion of distribution channels the customer base reflect the development of cultural products from strong wisdom.
