The Needs Assessment to Development of Physical Education Activities Related to Students in the 21st Century of General Education Teaching Institute of Khon Kaen University

The purpose of this research article was to assess and prioritize the needs to develop physical education activities that correspond to learners in the 21st century of the General Education Teaching Institute of Khon Kaen University. The samples consisted of 20 Deputy Deans of Academics and 361 undergraduate students selected by purposive sampling. The instruments for collecting the data needed assessment with .82 of IOC for content validity and .93 for reliability coefficient. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics methods including percentage, means, and standard deviation, and the Modified Priority Needs (PNImodified) technique was used to prioritize essential needs.
The results showed that the overall needs assessment of the Deputy Dean for Academics in reality was at a high level ( = 3.59, S.D. = .53), and as expected was at the highest level (
= 4.72, S.D. = .30). In considering the index of need by ranking, the highest score was learning activities (PNImodified =.50), and then learning media and resources (PNImodified =.45), respectively. Another, the assessment of students' overall needs according to actual conditions is moderate (
= 3.42, S.D. = .58), and as expected was at the highest level (
= 4.60, S.D. = .39). In considering the index of need by ranking for university students, the highest score was learning activities (PNImodified =.52), and then learning media and resources (PNImodified =.51), respectively.
